Abundant in flora and fauna, this place is now being developed as a hill resort. One has to trek 6 kms to reach the top of the hills. There is a proposal to set up a zoo at the top of the hill. The enchanting hill station offers a challenging trek to those inclined to stretch their legs. Trekkers are rewarded by a profusion of exotic flora and fauna and an exhilirating view from the top.


Vythiri

Vythiri Vythiri is one of the most beautiful hill stations of Kerala located at about 100 km from Kozhikode about 1300 m above the sea level. The place is famous for its lush green sprawling plantation of coffee, tea, cardamom, pepper and rubber. The misty hills with full of lush green vegetation provide a breathtaking view to its visitors. The fresh and pristine breeze laden with the fragrance of nature soothes and refreshes your mind and soul. The main attraction for the tourists visiting Vythiri is its unique and adventurous Tree Houses, houses built on trees above 90 ft from the ground in the tropical rainforest providing picturesque view of the valley. You can spend a long time just sitting in your lounge on the balcony, experiencing one of the most privileged views in the rainforest, especially at sunset. Here you wake up every morning to the chirping of birds and exotic smell of nature The Rope bridges hanging over streams leading to cottages offer a spectacular view to tourists.


Other major attractions at Vythiri are Edakkal caves, situated on Ambukuthi Hills about 10 kilometers from Sultan Bathery, in Wayanad district of Kerala. It has been formed due to a large split in a huge rock, and the resulting landscape represent the world's richest pictographic gallery of its kind. If you are wildlife lover then Vythiri offers you a visit to one of the best sanctuary of Kerala, the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. Charalkunnu

Charalkunnu Charalkunnu is a popular hill station in Pathanamthitta District of Kerala . The Pampa River flows in the low lying areas. Accommodation facilities are available for the visitors. Pathanamthitta , the district headquarters, is situated 17 km to the south-east. Kozhencherry is located 5 km away. Thiruvalla Railway Station is the nearest railhead. Trivandrum International Airport is the nearest airport. This picturesque hill station offers a panoramic view of the nearby valleys. A camp house on the hill provides comfortable lodging. Charalkunnu is a famous retreat and convention centrelocated atop a picturesque.One can experience a panoramic view of the low lying areas including river Pamba from here. Elaveezhapoonchira

Elaveezhapoonchira Located at distance of 55 kms from Kottayam and 20 kms from Thodapuzha, this is another picnic spot located in the midst of the beautiful hillocks near Kanjar. Ilaveezhpoonchira, means the 'valley where leaves don't fall' and is so named because the place has no trees. This is also one of the best places in Kerala to witness the sunrise and sunset. It is easily accessible from Palai in Kottayam district. The beautiful valleys of Ilaveezhapoonchira are spread across thousands of acres of the district of Kottayam. The place is surrounded by three enchanting hillocks: Mankunnu, Kodayathoormal and Thonippara, making the place ideal for trekking. The verdant landscape punctuated by four gigantic hills, each rising to about 3200 feet above sea level is an ideal place to unwind. During the monsoons when the valley fills up to form a scenic lake, this place unveils yet another beautiful slice of nature.


Peerumedu

Peerumedu Peermade lies 85 km east of Kottayam at an altitude of 915m above sea level.The weather is cool at Peermade all through the year owing to its altitude. The cool breezes make Peermade pleasant to be visited any time of the year., Peermade is on the way to the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. this pleasant hill station was once the summer retreat of the Maharajas of Travancore.Peermade is indeed a cool hill resort in Kerala. Here you will find sprawling tea, coffee, cardamom, rubber and eucalyptus plantations side by side with natural grasslands and pine forests. The Sufi saint and an associate of the rulers Peer Mohammed lends his name to Peermade. Peermade thus means the hill of the Peer. Peermade has since long attracted the trekkers, nature lovers, picnickers alike. As a hill resort Peermade has also been providing refuge to the sun scorched souls from the plains. The idyllic hill resort of Peermade indeed rejuvenates the mind, body and the soul.

Attappady

Attappady Attappady is about 38 Kms. North east of Mannarkkad. Above everything else, one will be awestruck by the grandiloquence of the divine architect who created this loveliness of forests, rivers and mountains. It is also a place of great interest to anthropologists as many Irulas and Mudugas inhabit here. These Adivasis worship the mountain peak Malleswaran' as a gigantic Siv-Ling. This peak and the River Bhavani exert tremendous influence on the lives of the tribal. There is a P.W.D. rest house and a VIP guest house at Agali. Besides these government houses, there are also a few private hotels. 'Sivarathri' is celebrated at the Malleswaran temple by the tribal.
